Ikan Patin Jambal merupakan ikan endemik perairan sungai Indonesia. Ikan ini masih terdapat di sungai-sungai besar seperti Bengawan Solo, Brantas, Batanghari maupun waduk Gajah Mungkur. Walaupun jumlahnya tidak banyak dan di khawatirkan punah.

Short description

Anal soft rays: 31 - 34. Dorsum dull grey; blunt snout lacking broad white band around muzzle; 24-35 gill rakers in the first arch (Ref. 12693).

Biology

Bears strong resemblance to P. bocourti but has different gill-raker counts and coloration. Diet consists mostly of benthic insect larvae and worms, with some free swimming insects, submerged plants and seeds (Ref. 12693).
